8:30 p.m. Monday- almost a full day of effort and now fewer than 100 members remain without power from the storm. Crews will continue to work until power is restored. We owe a big thanks to TVEC members for your patience, and visiting co-op crews and our great contractors who have been working so hard alongside us. Outage Update: 4:15 p.m. - Crews from Tri County Electric Co-op and Grayson Collin Electric Co-op have joined TVEC crews to speed up restoration efforts. Because of the large number of individual and small location outages from this storm, restoration is taking much longer than usual. Coffee City: Repairs are taking longer than expected, but should be wrapping up very soon. Any additional outages that may be hiding in the larger outage will be worked as soon as possible.Outage Update: Coffee City Large Outages - Crews are working to finish up what has been a total of five replacement poles. Restoration of the majority of the outage is expected by 4 p.m. There may be additional repairs to be made for smaller areas within the current outage.Outage Update 12:30 p.m. - Total outage numbers have dropped below 2,000, with two larger outages making up the bulk of that. There is significant tree damage with lines down and broken poles in the southern part of TVEC territory. Coffee City - 680 members are affected here. Crews and contractors are working to clear trees and replace broken poles at this location. No time estimate for restoration yet, but repairs are well underway.Tennessee Colony - 350 members are affected in the largest Tennessee Colony area outage, also with broken pole repairs and tree work in progress.Additional outages are scattered through the affected area, with crews working as quickly and safely as possible to get everyone back on.Outage Update 9:30 a.m. - About 2,500 TVEC members remain without power this morning, with steady progress being made by lineworkers and system operators. As mentioned earlier, the sheer number of separated single and small area outages with this storm means it is a very time consuming process driving, troubleshooting and repairing each trouble spot. Additional contractors as well as mutual aid crews from at least one other co-op are coming to assist, as well as our excellent tree trimming contractors. You may follow outage restoration progress and see when crews have been assigned to your particular location in the outage map at outages.tvec.net.Outage Update: 5:30 a.m. - About 4,000 TVEC members are without power at this time, with active storm systems still slowing progress and adding new outages to the mix.Daylight should speed progress. Unfortunately there are many scattered small outages, where each one could be as simple as a fuse replacement or as complicated as removing a large tree or replacing a transformer. Thank you for your patience as our crews work as quickly and safely as possible. Outage Update: Midnight - Most storm activity seems to be over but high winds and an incredible amount of lightning have left their mark. About 8,600 TVEC members are without power, down from a high of about 9,300. Crews and system operators and all available personnel are being mobilized to restore power. Due to the number of separate outages, some could last into the day on Monday. Crews must work from substations outward, while working with system operators to ensure no lines are energized where other crews could be working in harm’s way. You can be sure that they are working to restore power as quickly as possible to all members.8:45 p.m. TVEC crews are responding to multiple outages in our service area with strong storms moving through this evening.About 300 members are out in an area north of Edgewood, with other smaller outages scattered around the northern Kaufman and Van Zandt County areas. In the southern TVEC area, crews are responding to multiple outages in Anderson and Henderson counties, between Palestine and Athens.Crews will continue to work through these outages until everyone is back on.Report outages at 800-967-9324. Never approach downed power lines, or attempt to remove trees or limbs from power lines. They can be energized, even if lines are on the ground. ... See MoreSee Less
