Update 9:45 p.m.- To clarify news reporting, the outages today were the result of transmission grid conditions outside of TVEC’s service area. TVEC had almost 30,000 members affected, and power has been fully restored within our area. We cannot verify power for areas outside our service territory.

Below is a link to a Longview News-Journal story with some preliminary reporting on this widespread event.

Update 8:45 p.m. – All TVEC circuits affected by this outage have been restored at this time. If your power has not come back on, please report your outage at 800-967-9324.

Thank you for your patience during this event. We will update later this week with additional information regarding the cause and response to this event, and how something outside our area created such a large problem for TVEC members.

Update 8 p.m. – TVEC has been cleared to begin restoring power to the areas affected by this outage situation, but we do not yet have restoration times for any specific areas. As lines are restored and we ensure that everything is stable, additional areas will be added.

Update: 5:30 p.m. – The repeated power anomalies/blinks are affecting a large part of east Texas, and appear to come from the transmission grid serving the region. We do not yet have any information regarding the exact cause or expected time for resolution.

TVEC and other regional power providers are responding to widespread power blinks this afternoon.  The problem appears to be on the transmission grid that serves a large area of East Texas. We are working with transmission providers and will update information regarding this situation as soon as possible.

Updates will be made as edits to this post.
