Trinity Valley Electric Cooperative’s Board of Directors plays a vital role in guiding our cooperative—by and for our members. Here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming 2025 election and how to be part of the decision-making process.

Election Timeline & Process

  • Annual Meeting
The 2025 Annual Membership Meeting is set for October 16 at the Canton Civic Center. That’s when we’ll hear updates, conduct business, and announce election results.

  • Board Districts & Maps
Our service area is divided into seven board districts, with three board seats up for election this year. You can see board district maps and find out more about the board members on the board page here.

  • Ballots & Voting
Watch for your official election ballot and instructions, included in the September issue of Texas Co‑op Power Magazine. Please be aware that the September magazine will arrive later than normal to accommodate the election timeline specified by the TVEC bylaws.

  • Why Voting Matters

If you are a new Trinity Valley Electric Cooperative member, or just new to co-ops in general, being a part of a company with an elected board may seem different.

That is a big part of what makes electric cooperatives different. Unlike for-profit utilities, TVEC is governed by a Board of Directors made up of fellow co-op members. These directors set goals, oversee operations, and ensure that TVEC is always working in the best interest of our members.

While electric co-ops are not government entities, we provide a vital public service with open membership and the responsibility of maintaining critical infrastructure. The cooperative model, ownership by members, with member representation at the highest level of the organization, means our responsibility is always to our neighbors and communities, never to outside investors.

Member participation is also essential for the co-op to conduct official business at the Annual Meeting. Your vote helps establish a quorum, allowing the cooperative to move forward with important decisions. To encourage participation, TVEC members who vote are entered into a drawing for $2,000 in cash prizes.

We encourage every member to take time to vote and be part of the cooperative difference.

  • Two Voting Options – by mail or online.
Ballots must be returned to our authorized election firm, not to TVEC offices, to be counted and to qualify for any prize drawings (if applicable). Do not return ballot envelopes to TVEC offices or with your bill payment. If you do so they will be invalid and not count toward our election totals, and will not be entered into the incentive prize drawing.
