As a cooperative we focus on serving members through the Seven Cooperative Principles, including Principal #2, Democratic Member Control.

To accomplish that, we have the responsibility to conduct our director election in a way that is in compliance with TVEC bylaws, provides a secure and trustworthy result, and allows participation by all members.

The original decision to provide only the ballots mailed to members with our September Texas Co-op Power magazine is consistent with those objectives. We have double checked our mailing lists and confirmed with the printing company that ballots were mailed to all members on September 10th.

Unfortunately, we are hearing from a small number of members who have not received their ballots due to reasons beyond our control.

On Thursday, in consultation with legal counsel and the auditing firm in charge of counting the ballots, we reached a solution that will allow these members to receive a replacement ballot without jeopardizing the integrity of the election.

To that end, we have requested that extra ballots be shipped to our office. Beginning Monday morning September 23, members who did not receive a ballot may obtain a replacement at any of the TVEC offices.

Members will be limited to one replacement ballot, and will be required to sign an affidavit confirming that they did not receive their ballot.

Thank you for understanding and please accept our apologies for any confusion. We are already planning ways to update our process to avoid any similar problems going forward.
