Operation Round Up
TVEC is excited to announce Operation Round Up. The program will allow the co-op to expand its charitable giving and community assistance to new heights.
The concept of Operation Round Up is simple. Participating members will have their electric bills rounded up each month to the next whole dollar amount. For example, a bill of $75.68 would be rounded up to $76. That’s a 32 cent contribution from the member. It may not sound like much, but when over 40,000 members pitch in a few cents every month, the pennies really add up.
On average, participating members will contribute 50 cents each month. The most a member would ever contribute in a single month would be 99 cents per account.
The possibilities of this program are huge. Funds from Operation Round Up will be used to support local nonprofit charitable organizations.
For example, Farmers Electric Cooperative has been able to donate over $6000 a year to the Coventry Reserve near Wylie, where adults with special needs discover how they can contribute, share and engage in the world around them.
Likewise, Operation Roundup has been a huge success at Comanche Electric Cooperative. Last year, they were able to donate $5000 to the local Park Enhancement Group. The group used the funds to build a toddler Park for area children.
Other cooperatives participating in the program have used funds to purchase fire trucks for volunteer department. They have made donations to children’s shelters and senior citizen centers. They have sent aid to fight wildfires and help hurricane victims. They have helped build hospitals and clinics. They did all of this with just a few pennies from their members.
We are excited to see what Operation Round Up can bring to the TVEC service area. But, this program can only work with the help of our members. We encourage everyone to participate and see what kind of a difference a few pennies can make. Members choosing not to participate should contact TVEC Member Services to be taken out of the campaign.
Organizations seeking funds from the program may find applications at tvec.net or at any TVEC office location beginning in May of 2013.
