The annual membership meeting of Trinity Valley Electric Cooperative was held on October 25 at the Cain Center in Athens. Over 170 members attended the event. TVEC attorney John Mosley served as emcee for the meeting.
TVEC management and staff were on hand prior to the meeting’s opening ceremonies to greet members and answer questions. After board member Jack Thornton led the invocation, Boy Scouts from local Troop 343 posted colors and led the Pledge of Allegiance. Board Secretary Carolyn Minor declared a quorum had been established and Board President Tim Towson officially called the meeting to order.
General Manager/CEO Jerry Boze addressed the audience and presented the general manager’s report. And Randy Robbins of the auditing firm Bolinger, Segars, Gilbert and Moss provided the results of TVEC’s financial audit, which concluded the coop was financially sound.
Steve Bledsoe then read the nominating committee report. Three seats on the board districts one, four and five were up for election. Districts four and five were both contested this year. Jo Ann Hanstrom of Kemp was elected to serve in district four and Jerry King of Mabank was elected to the district five seat.
Mrs. Hanstrom is the President of the Greater Cedar Creek Lake Area Chamber of Commerce and Mr. King is Vice President of Instruction for Trinity Valley Community College. Carolyn Minor was re-elected to her seat in District one.
Door prizes, including a 40-inch TV, were given away following the adjournment of the meeting.
